Waldwick
Methodist
Episcopal Church
Waldwick, Bergen County

One history of the county asserts there were Methodist camp meetings
in the immediate area between 1785 and 1790; I do not question that
there were gatherings in which a Methodist preacher spoke to residents,
but that is a little early for the days long emotional
revivals that
we
think of today as camp meetings. In any case, a Methodist
society had been established near Waldwick by 1797 and the congregation
built two previous churches before they erected this fine structure
in 1867. It was apparently renovated in 1908, as both dates
are found on the cornerstone.
