Old

Baptist
Church
South River, Middlesex County
Baptists came early to nearby Middletown but I am uncertain about the
founding date of this early Old School Baptist congregation. The church
was erected in 1805, according to the cornerstone, but in 1795 if we
accept the date offered by the local historical society. In any case,
the building is in fine condition. It once served as the town's
public library and
is
now a
museum.
