Sergeantsville Methodist Episcopal Church
Sergeantsville, Delaware Township, Hunterdon County

The church was founded in awoods meeting or revival which
was held near Sergeantsville in 1830 when the Second Great Awakening
was in full bloom in Hunterdon. Meetings were continued in private homes
and by 1832 a stone church was built on the site of the present church,
a donated lot. The rear and side walls remain as they were originally,
but in 1867, the walls were raised and an addition built on the front,
raising the seating capacity to 550.
