Sandyston
Christian Church [tentative identification]
Peters Valley, Sussex County

This
residence may have been the original Sandyston Christian
church. Honeyman, following Snell, misidentifies the Christian denomination
with the Universalist, and says the Universalist church in the area
was formed in 1847 and a church erected in 1848. That date seems
about right for this building.
There is an adjacent burial ground and
this building strongly resembles early
wood-frame
churches
in the
western
part of
the state.
