Third Reformed Church of Raritan
Raritan, Somerset County

This is the only Reformed church in Raritan, but at one time the general
area, including all of Somerville, was known as Raritan, and Somerville
has three other Reformed churches.
The church was erected in 1851,
but I suspect the elaborate steeple is a later addition. Compare this
building to the Reformed churches in Griggstown,
South Bound Brook,
and Harlingen and the Methodist
church in Cokesbury. And there are similar
buildings in Colts Neck, South Branch, Mt Holly, East Millstone, Cranbury
and Princeton, all derivative from the same design.
