Methodist Church
Phillipsburg, Warren County
I
have not been able to learn much of the history of this building other
than it was built in 1875 and services were discontinued by 1905. I
have no information about when the congregation was organized. A "free"
church in that era meant there was no pew rental, which was the most
common way of providing for the operating expenses and salary of the
minister.
The building is at Summit and Fillmore and is
now, apparently, unoccupied, although it at some recent point served as a store. It
is not likely to survive much longer.
