Pemberton Methodist Episcopal Church
Pemberton, Burlington County
This Methodist congregation was organized about 1770, which is very early
indeed. The church was erected in 1894, when Methodist churches, in particular,
were the locus for a variety of social as well as religious activities.
Whereas many of the 19th century churches added on wings and extensions
to accommodate the meeting rooms, board rooms and other spaces needed
to house the extensive services, this church was obviously planned from
the beginning with those activities in mind.
