Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart
Newark, Essex County
The Cathedral was started in 1899 and completed in 1954, which is actually
a short time for a Gothic church of this size. It is one of the largest
Gothic churches in the country. The original architect was Jeremiah
O'Rourke.
