Mt Olive Baptist Meetinghouse
MT Olive Township, Morris County

Stucco-over-stone was the preferred construction method in large parts
of the middle of the state, and this 1855 Baptist meetinghouse, although
apparently unused for services now, remains in fine condition. In late
2004 I was informed there is some restoration being done, or at least
planned.
The congregation was organized in 1768, the same year as the
local Presbyterian
church,
and the two congregations jointly erected a meetinghouse, which they
shared until the 1850s, when each build their own building a few yards
apart.
