Janes
[Methodist] Chapel
Mansfield Township, Warren County
Methodist Bishop Janes consecrated several churches in the region and had
this one named for him. It was organized in 1848, and built sometime before
1874, as it appears on the Beers Atlas of the county in that year. It was
part of the Vienna circuit in 1855, which included Buttzville, Free Union,
Sarepta, and Mt Bethel. It is now used as a residence, but still held Methodist
services as late as 1976; that is the full extent of my solid information
at this time.
