Hurdtown
Methodist Episcopal Church
Hurdtown, Morris County

The
Hurdtown congregation was probably organized by 1827, although one
source says 1848. Methodist revivals in the 1820s attracted many
participants and often resulted in formation of a small congregation,
especially in rural areas of the state. The church, erected in 1872,
was closed for many years, but
reopened in 1927.
