First Baptist Church
Hoboken, Hudson County

One of the really fine Romanesque Revival churches in the state, the
First Baptist church sits on a prominent corner and dominates its immediate
neighborhoodwhich it was undoubtedly intended to. The church was
built to reassert the social position of the Baptist congregation in
1890 in a city that had seen waves of recent immigrants erect impressive
churches. The building now houses a Seventh Day Adventist congregation.
