Hammondton Baptist Church
Hammondton, Atlantic County

When you first catch a glimpse of the steeple and hipped roof of this
old church from a block or two away, the initial reaction is one of
delight (you have to be really into old churches). A closer inspection
reveals that the building is entirely encased in aluminum, which has
obliterated all the textures, details and workmanship of an earlier
era.
I assume the church was built in the 1870s, a time
when the city had become a thriving rail center.
