Green Bank
Methodist Episcopal Church
Green Bank, Washington Townhip, Burlington County
An item from a newspaper of 1876 is interesting:
..The ladies of the M.E. Church held a fair on Christmas evening,
to raise funds for paying the debt off. Towards the close some rowdies,
under the influence of rum drank elsewhere, came in and broke up the
fair for that night. Warrants are out for their apprehension.
.....On New Year's Eve, the ladies continued the fair at the church.
The tables were tastefully arranged, and waited upon by beautiful ladies.
Mr. Sankey's hymns were sung, and a tree was decorated for the occasion.
The Green Bank church was formed in 1871 and this fine building
erected in 1875. It is very nicely maintained.
