Allen African Methodist Episcopal Church
Cape May, Cape May County
I was struck initially by the utter simplicity of this church when
I first came across it; on looking again I see more sophistication in
the design. The long rectangular windows echo the proportions of the
tower and the triangular window over the door and the oculus set midway
up the tower shows a good sense at work, in spite of the modest budget
the builders had to work with. The church was erected about 1870, I
believe.
