First Methodist Church
Buttzville, Warren County

The church is located on a prominent hill above Route 46. It was founded
in 1830, and this building was erected in 1873-1875. The round-arch
windows
and the Tuscan arch in the steeple reflect the popularity of the Romanesque
at the time.
Twenty years after the church was built a basement
was dug underneath the building to accommodate a Sunday School and room for other
meetings and activities, which probably accounts for the disproportionaly small
front entrance to the church.
