Boonton
Methodist Episcopal Church (original)
Boonton, Morris County

Boonton,
Rockaway Valley and Denville
were part of an early Methodist circuit, certainly one where there was at least
occasional preaching by 1785. The congregation in Boonton was not formally organized
until 1853, and in that year they erected this, their first church. It served
for fourteen years, when membership had increased, perhaps because of revivals,
to the point where a larger building was needed.
